Hello and Welcome to Knox United FC

Here we have complied some Frequently Asked Questions to try and help new players or even for our returning players that are a bit unsure of something.

Mini-Roos Questions

What is Mini-Roos?

Mini-Roos is the name of the age groups from Under 6 to Under 11. These age groups are more focused on the fun and spirit of the game. Games are played in small sided games with modified field sizes and playing numbers. 

What are the filed and team sizes?

Different age groups play on different field sizes as well as have different number of players in the team

Who are the Coaches and Managers of the team?

Our Mini-Roos coaches are both our Senior Players as well as professional coaches hired by the club. Coaches will be identified at the start of pre-season of who is coaching what team and age group. Managers range from Senior Players of the club to Parents of the players.
If you would like to help Manage your child team please get in contact with us. As we would love to get the parents more involved with the club.

What day will Training be?

Training days are allocated to each team closer to pre-season, generally they are during the week in the afternoon.

When and where are the games?

Special time requests are put in so that when the private school winter sports play – the games will be on Sunday. All other games are held on Saturdays, between 8:30am and 1pm. And the venues can range from Brooklyn to North Sydney, depending on the other team’s home grounds in the division. Home and Away games are played throughout the competition, where ideally each team plays a home game then an away game.
Knox United’s Home grounds are Curagal Fields, The Glade, NTRA Ovals and Kent Oval.

What are the fees for registering?

Registration fees, will be released by the club in the new year, prior to pre-season.

What uniform will i need?

Each player will be given an unnumbered playing Home Jersey at the start of the season.
Numbers are not required for Mini-Roos.
Black Knox United shorts and White Knox United socks can be purchased though the club, your coach and manager will arrange this with the team prior to the start of the season with the Equipment Manager.

Junior Questions

In 2022, we had teams in the Under 18, Under 16, Under 15 and Under 12 age groups. With the U18 and U16 competing in the Super League (Division 1); and U15 and U12 in Division 2. Players generally play in the age group of the age the are turning that year.

In 2023 Knox United will be providing teams from U6-U18, more information to come in the coming months.

Is there selections/trials/grading for Junior teams?

Yes. For our Super League teams we have trials. Which are usually held around October/November each year.

Who are the Coaches and Managers of the team?

Senior Questions

What is Premier League and Reserve Team?13873095_10154332567062980_9059888283867340260_n

Premier League is the highest division of football within the Northern Suburbs Football Association (NSFA) In addition to this each of the top 3 Divisions have a respective reserve team; making up a 2 team squad.
With the teams being Premier League, Premier league reserves, Division 2, Division 2 reserves, Division 3, Division 3 reserves. The top 3 divisions can get promoted or relegated depending on the previous seasons results.

I want to play competitively, but not at Premier League level. Can i still play?

Yes you can. Our Division 6 and 7 teams are comprised of strongly competitive players, who are slowly moving up divisions as the years progress, to be able to have a Knox United team in Division 3 and Division 3 reserves.

Can I play socially?

Yes of cause. Knox United currently have social teams in Division 9 and 10. These teams enjoy the game but are not heavily focused on the strong competitive side of the game.

What are the fees for registering?

When are trainings?

Training days for each team will be allocated in the new year, before pre-season.
Premier League, train once a week which is mandatory for the squad. This day is normally other Tuesday or Wednesday in the evening at 7pm.
For our Social teams, training is optional but also encouraged. This day is other Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday in the evenings.

When and where are the games?

Games are predominantly played on Saturday’s with Reserve team at 1pm and Premier League at 3pm. Occasionally, throughout the season there may be Friday night or Saturday night games played at 6pm and 8pm respectively.
The same goes for our Social teams being played on Saturdays either at 1pm or 3pm, and due to shortage of field allocation the occasional Friday night, Saturday night or Sunday day game could be played.
Venues can range from Brooklyn to North Sydney, depending on the other team’s home grounds in the division. Home and Away games are played throughout the competition, where ideally each team plays a home game then an away game.
Knox United’s Home grounds are Curagal Fields, The Glade, NTRA Ovals and Kent Oval.

What gear or uniform will i need?

Each player will be given a numbered playing Home Jersey at the start of the season.
When the colours of our jersey clash with another team, your manager or coach will supply an Away Jersey for that round.
Premier League team is required to wear the Club Polo shirt to and from games and also a Knox United training shirt at trainings and during match day warm ups. This is optional for our social teams, but also encouraged.
Black Knox United shorts and White Knox United socks can be purchased though the club, your coach will arrange this with the team prior to the start of the season with the Equipment Manager.

Master Questions

Masters teams are Over 35 teams, Over 45 teams or Over 55 teams.
Knox United has a Over 35’s team competition in Division 2

Can i play socially?

Yes. We love to encourage all to come play, even though we have an Over 35’s team, which is a social team. Players can still elect to trial for Premier League squad or play in our Mens All Age Social teams.

What day will Training be?
