Club Coaches

Here at Knox United, we strive to supply our players with high quality coaches to help assist their development.

In 2024, the club welcomes its first Female Football Coordinator and Female Coach, Saskia Geraghty.
We would also like to welcome back all coaches from the 2023 season who have maintain their roles.
The club’s Men’s Premier League continues to be run by coaches Stephen Roche and Milad Popalzay. And the Juniors and Mini-Roos organised by CCC Max Couvret, TD Vince Cali with the Addition of Junior/Mini-Roo Coaches Ted Stephenson Oscar Rahber & Roy Wethereld.

Our MAA Division 4 team will be coach by Vince Cali. For the remaining 3 Men’s All Age teams and 2 over 35s team, there are no appointed coaches. Instead, the teams are lead by the Captains and Senior players of the team in conjunction with the team managers; to help coach and run the teams.

Knox United FC Coaches 2024

Name: Stephen Roche

Role/s: Men’s Premier League
First Grade Coach

Qualification: AFC A-License, Coach Instructor C-License

Experience: Stephen Roche is one of, if not the highest regarded coach in NSFA. Over his career, he has achieved numerous accolades. His highlights include coaching NSW state teams for 12 years, including being a NSW elite development coach where he was the first ever to coach a country team to winning a national title. Roche also was the NSWIS assistant coach, before becoming the inaugural coach of the CCM W-League team, where he was awarded W-League Coach of the Year. Following this, Roche was the inaugural coach of Western Sydney Wanderers W-League team where he spent 3 years. Currently, Roche is in his 18th year as Technical Director & Director of Football at Knox Grammar School, as well as an extremely valued member of the Knox United coaching staff.

Name: Vince Cali

Role/s: Technical Director,
Under 14’s Super League Coach,
MAA Division 3 Coach

Qualification: AFC B-License

Experience: Vince Cali is one of the leading junior coaches in the NSFA. Following on from playing, Vinnie started coaching 18 years ago. Throughout his career, Vinnie has coached at every level from U6 Community, to representative football. Vinnie is widely known for his enthusiasm, encouraging all players to develop and play at the highest level possible. Vinnie joined Knox United in 2016 as the Premier League Head Coach, where he spent 3 seasons. Following this, Vinnie was a key pillar in establishing Junior football through Knox United. Vinnie is also the head coach at Knox Prep School, where he has been for 8 years. Vinnie is excited to start his new role as Knox United Technical Director, where he will look to have an even larger impact on the development of Knox United players.

Name: Milad Popalzay

Role/s: Men’s Premier League Reserve Grade Coach

Qualification: AFC A License

Experience: Milad started his journey in 2014 as a coach for NSFA and Knox Grammar. In 2016 and 2017, he was the U13 NSW and U14 Metro coach, securing the national title with his U13 squad. Gaining prominence in the NPL coaching space with the Western Sydney Wanderers, serving as both a coach and the Head of S&C, his impactful contributions were instrumental in securing titles in the U15, U16, U20 and inaugural U23 promotion to NPL 1. In 2023, Milad joined the Knox United Senior team as both a coach and player, whilst simultaneously leading the Manly United Mens First Grade S&C program, and serving as a member of the coaching staff. He is also a Director of Sport at Knox Grammar School.

Name: Max Couvret

Role/s: Club Coach Coordinator

Qualification: AFC C-License

Experience: Max started Coaching as an NPL SAP assistant in 2020, before receiving his C License in 2021, where he started coaching at Knox United. After coaching our Super League teams for the past 3 years, Max is currently in his 4th year at Knox United, and his 2nd as the Club Coaching Coordinator, whilst also coaching at Knox senior school and being a current first grade player for the club. In 2024, Max’s goal is to introduce new development opportunities for our top miniroo’s players allowing them to reach their true potential, whilst ensuring all players of all abilities get an opportunity to be coached by our qualified Knox United coaches.

Name: Saskia Geraghty

Role/s: Female Football Coordinator

Qualification: Skills + Game training certificates

Experience: Saskia completed her first Skills Training Certificate in January of 2020 and Game Training Certificate in June of the same year. She went on to find employment as the youngest female coach at XLR8 Player Development, running skills programs and holiday clinics for players aged 4-14 years old. In 2021, she began coaching female and mixed community football teams through XLR8, then was assigned my first Diamond League team at Chatswood Rangers in 2022. Working in coach development through the NSFA’s Collaborative Coaching mentor program in 2022/23 has been a great experience for her and has also taken the female Northern Tigers Development teams for the 2023 season. In 2023, she ran some sessions coaching for Knox United Mini-Roos and as Coach of the 3B team at the Knox Grammar Prep School.

Name: Roy Wethereld

Role/s: U6 Coach

Qualification: AFC C-License

Experience: Roy started coaching at 16 working with Stephen Roche, Receiving his C License a year later. In 2021, After 20 years of coaching throughout the St George and Canterbury Area, Roy joined the Knox united coaching team. In 2023, Roy has moved from our Premier League Reserve grade and U14 coach to U6 where he is now coaching his sons team.

Name: Ted Stephenson

Role/s: U8 Coach

Qualification: Skills + Game training certificates

Experience: After leaving Knox in 2022, Ted started coaching with Knox United. Ted has played all his life and is keen to pass on his knowledge to a new generation. Since joining the club, Ted has completed 2 coaching courses showcasing his commitment. Welcome Ted

Name: Oscar Rahber

Role/s: U10 Coach

Qualification: Skill Training Certificate

Experience: After leaving Knox in 2022, Oscar started coaching with Knox United. Oscar has played all his life and is keen to pass on his knowledge to a new generation. Since joining the club, Oscar has completed a coaching course, aswell as participated in other NSFA led workshops to further develop his coaching skills. Welcome Oscar
