Dave Brown Cup
Over the clubs years, there has been a long strong history of Knox United first team playing against Knox Grammar’s 1st XI, with this local darby match being played for the Dave Brown Cup.
The trophy is named after Mr Dave Brown, who was a teacher at Knox Grammar School from 1970 -1990. During his time at the school he was an instrumental part in the schools football program and was the school’s 1st XI football coach. This trophy dates back as old as the club, where the first game ever played under the Knox United FC banner was on Gillespie Fields against Knox Grammar School’s 1st XI team where the club won 6-2.
This head to head clash of old boys vs current boys has been a fun game for all players and for
those involved, player sporadically when both teams have been available.
In 2025, this match between Knox United PL First grade and Knox Grammar 1st XI, unfortunately had to be cancelled due to scheduling conflict. The club looks to work with the school to have the Dave Brown Cup played in 2026.
